The boys swim team has started the season fast, swimming in three meets over the past week. On Tuesday night, the team competed in a swim competition of three teams, besting Mehlville High School but falling short of defeating Eureka High School.
On Thursday night, the boys suffered a loss at the hands of Chaminade High School. On Saturday, the team competed against 20 other high school swim teams at a meet in Springfield.
Individually, many Spartans had great success. During the week, many swimmers had a lot of best times, including sophomore Hunter Ryan, who finished first in the 200m freestyle Tuesday night.
Swim Coach Andrew Morgan has reason to be confident in the ability of the team this year, due to the leadership and maturity of the underclassmen.
“We’re going to have a great season,” Coach Morgan said. “I expect more out of the underclassmen. I expect them to provide leadership [on the team].”
