The band put on their annual winter performance in the newly renovated auditorium on Dec. 9. The crowd watched as the Concert band, Symphonic band, and Wind Ensemble performed. During the show, sophomore Ellen Lovellette was acknowledged for her achievement of making first alternate for flute in the All-state Band. In the band community, making All-states or even being an alternate is very exciting news.
“I auditioned for the All-state honor band and I made alternate, which, admittedly, I’m a little bit mad about. It wasn’t my greatest audition, but it’s a super big deal to make it,” Lovellete said.
Some others who made Allstates are Julian Rodriguez for jazz tenor and base clarinet, Tyler Seep who got an honorable mention for trumpet, and Abby Davenport – – the first freshman to ever make All-states.
