With a big tournament coming up and an even bigger winter storm coming in on Jan. 23-24, the boys varsity wrestling team was determined to still wrestle. The boys’ team left early Friday morning and wrestled all day on Jan. 23. While the boys didn’t place as a team, they had multiple medalists, one of them being junior Gavin Groves. Groves placed sixth and has his eyes on the next big goals for himself.
“I’m proud of how I competed this weekend, but I’m even more focused on what’s ahead.” Groves said, “And getting more repetitions on what I’m good at.”
The boys will keep practicing and competing until they wrestle in districts on Feb. 20 and 21, and then they will head to the state tournament, which will take place at Mizzou on Feb. 27 and Feb. 28.
