With spring comes the baseball season: clouds of dirt, the sound of metal cleats, cheering and yelling. In their second game of the season on March 31 at 4:15, the freshman baseball team took on the Francis Howell North Knights in a game characterized by strong defense and powerful hits. Bringing together a group of new teammates to produce a successful season takes work from all members of the team and coaching staff; something that can make or break a team. It takes grit and determination, and a sense of brotherhood between teammates. With a difficult first game taking four pitchers to complete, the boys realized their struggles and came together to get a big win with a score of 7-1. Freshman Seth Nichols, a pitcher for the team has noticed this change in their camaraderie.Â
“The first game was kind of rough, we didn’t really have any team chemistry and weren’t really playing together. But with the second game, we really found it and we’ve improved,” Nichols said.Â
The next freshman baseball game is 4 p.m. on April 2 at home against the Marquette Mustangs.Â
