Swim team sees early success

On Tuesday, Aug. 1, the varsity boys swim team had its first meet of the season. According to Head Coach Andrew Morgan, the highlight of the meet came when the 200 Medley Relay broke the school record in the event, which had stood since 2001. The relay — made up of senior Jeremy Cabu, juniors Andrew Smith and Ryan Macy, and freshman Zach Rogers — also quailfied for the state meet, as did Cabu and Rogers individually in the 50 Free and 100 Fly, respectively.

The Spartan swimmers won 11 out of the 12 events at the meet, which was held at the Rec-Plex against Timberland High School.

Coach Morgan said he has been very impressed with the whole team this year.

“The older swimmers have stepped up and taken leadership roles while large freshman class have all become quickly accustomed to the rhythm of our season and continue to work hard,” said Coach Morgan. “There is an enormous amount of talent on the team this year, and it should be fun to watch it all unfold.”
