The varsity boys tennis team defeated its rival Francis Howell for the first time in five years on Wednesday night. The Spartans defeated the Vikings by a score of 7-2. Winning singles and doubles matches includes sophomore Sean Nanney, junior Ryan Pham and seniors Derek Hoerman and Justin Arndt.
Head Coach Don Lober was ecstatic about the team’s win.
“The coach was the most excited about the victory,” said Hoerman.
Hoerman recognizes the significance of the win.
“It was a very big win for us,” said Hoerman, who won his doubles match with partner Ryan Pham 7-5 in a tiebreaker set.
Hoerman went on to win his two single matches by a score of 6-2.
With the victory, the team’s record has improved to 4-1. The team’s next match will be Thursday night against Hazelwood Central at home.
