Expecting a large crowd, the girls basketball team has been practicing to play their best on Paint it Pink night on Friday, beginning with the JV games at 4:30 p.m. The purpose of this night is to raise money for cancer research and to bring support for the basketball program.
Both JV and Varsity teams will be supporting the causes as they incorporate pink into their uniforms and warm up uniforms.
“I think it’s a great cause and a great way to get school spirit up,” said senior Grace Wade. “It’s more than just basketball for us and it’s about helping our community for a greater cause.”
The girls will be competing against Troy, after being defeated on Jan. 14 by 12 points. The team has spent time reviewing the outcome of their last game and discovering ways to improve their game.
“It wasn’t our best, but we’ve been over the film and found our mistakes and worked on what we need to,” Wade said. “We could do really well and we are working with the freshman boys who are giving us a good competition.”
The team is working on their intensity and using the freshman boys to help them pick up their pace.
“With help from the freshman boys, we are getting used to playing quicker and more aggressive. We’re getting used to the speed of the game and intensity.”
