A Sensational Spike
The FHC Girls’ varsity volleyball team hosted a game against Francis Howell High School last Thursday, Sept.29. The game wound up taking three sets, each about an hour long. The first set went to Howell, and the second – the longest of the sets – ended in a win for FHC, leaving the team at an incredibly intense tie. The third game, however, ultimately left FHC ecstatic and triumphant in their win. Senior Faith Rekosh recounts the moment fondly.
“We started off a little bit slow but then we picked it up and we played really good,” Rekosh said. “My freshman year when I came in, we hadn’t beaten Howell in nine years in the volleyball program, so it was kind of a big deal for us to continue […] after my freshman year and be able to clean sweep them in three sets. It was a really big step for us, and I think we learned a lot.”
The entire team expressed their earnest gratitude for the exceptional support the student section provided during this game. Next Tuesday, Oct. 11, all three teams will be playing at home against Fort Zumwalt West.
