Boys face up, down start to season

Following a loss Friday night at Duchesne to the Pioneers and a win Monday night against the Owls of Windsor High School, the varsity basketball team has started the season with a record of 1-1.

After a close loss to Duchesne, head coach Larry Anders voiced his concern over the loss.

“[Coach Anders] was upset that we let a game we should have won slip away from us,” said junior forward Dominic Faron.

The team discussed what they needed to fix and worked on what needed to be improved during practice. The Spartans defeated the Windsor Owls in a blow-away victory by more than 20 points.

“We came out strong and didn’t make the same mistakes we made against Duchesne,” said Faron.

The team is preparing for its next contest tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. against Hillsboro High School in the 54th Annual Gene Steighorst Tournament.
