Following a tough home loss against the Trojans of Troy, the girls basketball team came back strong with a win. The team edged out a win against Marquette on Wednesday by a score of 33-29.
The Spartans were led by Sharese Jones, who scored nine points. Juniors Stacey Belt and Ciara Schmidt both contributed with eight points apiece. As the girls move forward and near the end of the season, they are coming together as a team. According to Belt, the team simply feels more comfortable playing with each other as teammates.
“The more we play together, the better we get to know each other as players,” said Belt. “We are to the point that we know where and when a teammate wants the ball, and as a team, we do everything we can to get the ball to them.”
As the girls enter the final leg of their season, their next contest will be at Hazelwood West tonight.
