The varsity basketball team lost a game at home to the Trojans of Troy-Buchanan High School 57-44 on Tuesday night. However, following a second place finish in a tournament in Rolla over winter break, the team has a record of 6-6.
Senior forward Brian Midden lead the Spartans in scoring with 12 points. With senior center Shayne Heskin adding 11 points for the team.
The Trojans pulled away from the Spartans in the second half of the game.
“[We] only scored two points in the third quarter. That is when they pulled away,” said junior forward Chris Guyot.
The team was also out worked over the course of the game, further making it difficult for the team to score.
“We worked as hard as we could, but we just got outplayed,” said Guyot.
The Spartans took on Mehlville High School Wednesday night and defeated the team by a score of 52-46 at home and will close the week off with a game at rival Francis Howell North Friday night.
