Coming after a win against Fort Zumwalt West, the Spartans wrestling team went into its match against Northwest with confidence and hope of remaining undefeated on the season in its dual meet schedule. The team was able to accomplish this with a 48-15 win, on the heels of many of the wrestlers who have carried the team all season.

Seniors Brandon Wilbourn and Andrew Buffa both won their matches, along with junior Terrell Wilbourn winning his respective match. As the boys near the end of their regular season and begin to focus on the state tournament, there is but one team left on their dual meet schedule. They will face Troy Buchanan on Jan. 28, where they look to finish the season undefeated and enter the tournament riding a winning streak stretching throughout the entirety of the season.

“We have had a successful season so far,” said Brandon Wilbourn. “We have to keep our eyes on the ultimate goal though. If we don’t, we might end up not going as far as we would like to in the state tournament.”
