Spartans look for strong end to season

Returning to the court after an 11-point loss to the Lafayette Lancers last Tuesday, the Lady Spartans turned things around on Friday night against a 13-4 Golden Eagles team from North Tech, winning 54-47.

Leading the Spartans were junior Sharese Jones, who scored 22 points and added a steal in the win, and senior Ciara Schmidt who scored 15 points and swatted two opposing shots to help spark the team to victory.

With just two games left until the district tournament, the Spartans look to continue their winning ways tomorrow night against 6-16 arch rival Howell. According to junior Stacey Belt, the closer the tournament gets, the more intense the whole season becomes.

“We know that the district tournament is getting closer, and we feel a sense of urgency to go out and win every game now,” said Belt. “We are hoping that the preparation and determination pays off in the end.”
