As students join sports and activities, they grow fond relationships and close ties with those they have spent countless hours practicing with blood, sweat, tears, and a drive to perfection in order to improve one’s performance. Before Thanksgiving break rolled around the boys basketball team had its first jamboree of the 2025-2026 school year on Nov. 20. against Fort Zumwalt South ,winning two of the four scrimmages. When having a passion and a drive for sports in particular, many students like to pursue it throughout their high school career. During the process, many people have had an influence in those in order to get to that point or help one another in the process. Moreover, when spending the majority of people’s time with one another, they grow a bond and a sense of unity, not only having a better connection on the court but also off the court.
Senior Xavier Morrison has been on the boys basketball team since freshman year while growing and bonding with his teammates and coaches while also growing a passion for the sport. Nonetheless, Morrison expresses that basketball got into his life, nonetheless while also one key aspect he has learned from basketball.
“I have been playing basketball ever since I was six years old so it’s just my passion,” Morrison said. “Ever since my mom put a ball in my hands I just ran with it. You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.”
Morrison not only plans to pursue his athletic career once he graduates but also learned a crucial element that can be used on and off the court. In addition, basketball season has sprung into action and the boys varsity basketball team has not only excelled as a team but has grown as a family ,nonetheless caring about one another, absorbing each memory until their last practices or games with their team, not only appreciating the memories captured but the seniors guiding the team along the way.
