On Friday, Jan. 16 the boys varsity basketball team played the St. Dominic Crusaders at Washington High School for the Washington Tournament championship. The Spartans won over the Crusaders 50-46. Senior Xavier Morrison scored to put the Spartans in the lead with only two seconds left on the clock. Morrison explains what was going through his head as he made the shot.
“Jayden swung [the ball] to me and with there only being four seconds left, I knew I had to do something. It felt like all eyes were on me and the world was moving in slow motion.” Morrison said. “After I drove and scored, I couldn’t help but think about how much the game meant to me and my team.”
The varsity boys’ next game is at Fort Zumwalt South, on Jan. 29.
