Freshman Victoria Lewis clears the ball so her opponents don’t gain possession during the first game of the year on March 21. Although the ball went out of bounds, it is more favorable than the opponent taking the ball.
March 20 was the start of most spring sports, with their first matches taking place that day. The varsity girls soccer team played against Fort Zumwalt South for their first match. Although FHC lost 1-0, their spirit isn’t diminished, as freshman Victoria Lewis comments about her experience with the difference between a club loss and high school loss.
“ I think coming off of a loss for our first game set the fact that we need to play hard, and it’s definitely a transition from playing with a club,” said Lewis.
