Striking the ball toward victory, the girls varsity soccer team took the field against Marquette on April 14. At the beginning of the game, the Spartans gained an advantage by scoring an early goal. The team worked together and continued to motivate each other to play hard throughout the match. Before games, the team listens to upbeat music in the locker room as they prepare, helping to boost their confidence and mindset. Freshman Molly Hill, in her first year of varsity, contributed to the team’s 2-1 win. Near the end of the game, Hill took possession of the ball and made her way toward a successful goal with less than five minutes left on the clock. To prepare before a game, Hill follows a specific superstition she has always had, she must put her right shoe on first. Hill has been playing soccer since the first grade and has even surprised herself for how long she’s stuck with the sport. Hill spoke on how she believes the season is going so far.
“I think the season is going okay,” Hill said, “I mean we’re 4-7, so it’s not the best, but I’m excited for districts because I feel like we’ve been on a winning streak so far, and I hope we can win more.”
The girls varsity soccer team will have its next game on April 23 at Holt.
