Hockey second strongest team in the league

The varsity hockey Spartans made school history on Friday by defeating Francis Howell High 3-1 and winning their division, finishing with a record of 17-3-1. The team has the second seed for the playoffs, which is the highest in school history.

“The top 16 high schools make it into the Challenge Cup finals,” said junior forward Chase Rey. “We were given the second seed, meaning we are viewed as the second strongest team.”

The team will go on to play Seckman, the 15th seed, on Saturday at 9:15 p.m. at BH Skating Parks International for its first game of the playoffs.

“It may even be the highest seed any St. Charles school has ever gotten,” said Rey.
