Two games. Two buzzer beaters. Two disappointing losses for the varsity boys basketball team.
On Feb. 9, the team lost to state-ranked Wentzville Holt in the final seconds by the score of 59-57. The Spartans would face the same fate two nights later, losing at the buzzer to Fort Zumwalt West by a score of 53-51.
“[The losses] were emotionally draining but they didn’t hurt our morale,” said Senior forward Andrew Tedder. “The past is the past, it can’t be changed.”
The team came out the next day and defeated Elsberry High School 54-49. The victory put the prior two close losses behind the team for good.
“After the loss against Zumwalt West, coming out and playing the next day helped us put the losses behind us,” said Tedder.
The team’s senior night will take place tonight at 6:30 against Parkway North. The team’s final game is Friday against rival Howell North at 7 p.m at home.
