Wins give baseball team momentum going into game with Howell

Last week, the baseball team played Warrenton, Jefferson City, St. Charles West and Seckman, winning all four games and upping its record to 8-3.

“We were all playing together as a team,” second baseman senior Dylan Shindler said. “We have really been building up some momentum.”

Having a rough start to the season was not in Coach Ray Howard’s game plan, but according to Coach Howard, the team is working through it and playing better.

“We didn’t have the best of starts to our season,” said Coach Howard. “The best we can hope for is to keep getting better and playing our best when it matters most.”

According to Schindler, the more the team wins, the better the team’s attitude gets, which helps the team focus on the game.

“Wins always put your mind in the right place,” Schindler said. “If we keep this up, we might have a chance against Howell.”

Howell is so far undefeated, scoring twice as many runs as its opponents on its way to a top ranking in the area. The Spartans will play the Vikings on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

“We will play this game the same way we play all of our games, and that’s the best we can do,” Coach Howard said.
