‘Solid throws’ carry Ultimate Frisbee to another win

The Ultimate Frisbee team, coached by Coach Jason Becker, played a game against Priory on Saturday, April 16. The Spartans, who were already leading at halftime 8-2, won this game with a score of 15-6.

According to Coach Becker, his team moved the disc well in the wind, especially upwind, better than the other team.

“In general, there’s a lot more people on the team that have solid throws in the wind,” said Coach Becker.

This season the wind has been an issue for the team, but according to Coach Becker, the Spartan players overcame the Priory players.

“[Priory’s players] were much taller and faster but weren’t using that well,” said Coach Becker.

During the game, senior Eric Zvanut made many key defense blocks, according to Coach Becker. Senior Ryan Fitzgerald also contributed well by scoring quite a few goals, according to Coach Becker. However, the team as a whole has been playing well, with a record of 5-1.

The Spartans do not play a game this weekend due to Easter. In two weeks, on Sunday, May 1, the team will play a doubleheader with Priory Junior Varsity and DeSmet Junior Varsity.
