According to senior second baseman Dylan Schindler, all the rain and game cancellations that the Spartan baseball team has encountered in the last week is one of the reasons games did not go as planned. According to Coach Ray Howard, the team just was not mentally prepared for the games.
“We were really struggling on focusing,” said Coach Howard. “I really don’t know why we weren’t prepared; it was just bad timing.”
Along with the rain cancellations, Schindler blames the outcome of the game on being too cocky, rather than not having enough focus.
“We had been doing pretty well for the most part and [we] just let it get to our heads,” said Schindler.
Rather than dwelling on the past, Schindler is focusing on the upcoming games in the next week. The team will be playing the Francis Howell North Knights on May 3. If the boys win this game, they will win the conference.
“This is a big week,” said Schindler. “It adds pressure, but you have to remember it’s just another game.”
