Sensations start the year looking forward
The Sensations are dominated by 11 seniors for the 2013-2014 school year. With help from senior captains Jordan Sneed, Alli Benney, Stephanie Henry and Keagan Lumpa, the team learned its routine for the first home game during the summer. The team also participated in a dance camp in Illinois to better the dancers’ skills and performance. The rest of the team consists of four juniors, two sophomores, and one freshman.
Junior Kylie Anderson, moved to Missouri from Fridley, Minn. on July 31. Anderson e-mailed Coach Jodi Wylde about an opportunity to join the Sensations. She was on the dance team back in Minnesota and had been dancing for three years.
“The coach contacted me back and said I could practice with the team. I learned the try-out dance after one practice, which was a jazz routine,” Anderson said. “After the last practice of that week, I tried out in front of the coaches and made the varsity team.”
Lumpa and the rest of the Sensations have been working hard learning a jazz routine and a hip-hop routine for the Lindbergh competition in December.
“I’m really excited for the upcoming season, because I’m a captain and a senior, and I’m super excited to perform during football season,” Lumpa said.
