On a night filled with close basketball games, at 5:30 at FHC the varsity girls basketball team took the win in a two possession game against the Saint Charles West Warriors with a score of 55-50 on Jan. 20. The game was physical, being highlighted by abundant free throws and many possessions that ended right under the basket. In addition to the action on the field, the game was also Junior Spartan Night, meaning the stands were filled with elementary and middle school future girls basketball players to cheer on the varsity team. Freshman Nora Allen, a past participant of the Junior Spartan program found the younger crowd to be beneficial to the gameplay.Â
“It definitely had a good impact on our game, it was more exciting, and I feel like it helped us play better than we would have without it,” Allen said.Â
The team’s next game is at home on Feb. 3 against the Francis Howell North Knights at 5:30.Â
