Team wins first home game

Although the team faced a rough first few weeks with wet fields, it was able to beat Hickman 5-1 in its first home game of the season.

According to Coach Ray Howard, junior pitcher Scott Huesemann pitched well and gave up no earned runs.

“Being a pitcher, you have to prepare mentally to know which pitch to throw and when,” said Huesemann.

Junior catcher Jake Henson had three hits. Senior left fielder Dominic Faron, junior first baseman Austin Boden and junior right fielder Jayden Lumpa got two hits apiece. Coach Howard was pleased with the outcome of the game.

“Overall, we played a solid game with good defense and swung the bats pretty well,” said Coach Howard.

However, according to Coach Howard, the team is not letting this win get to its head.

“We hope to build off this win and get better and better as the season progresses,” said Coach Howard.

The team’s next game will be Tuesday against a team from Los Angeles.
