Volleyball has continued to build off its win streak, going 9-1 in the last week to bring the team’s season record to 19-6-2.
“Five of those were against very good teams, so we’re doing very well,” Head Coach Mark McAfee said of the team’s wins over the last week.
The Spartans went 3-0 on Friday in the first pool of the Conference Clash to advance to the gold bracket, where the team lost to Howell in two games but would work its way back through the conciliation bracket to take third in the 28 team tournament.
The team then went on to defeat SLUH in two games Monday and Westminster in two games Thursday. After a game against Marquette Friday night, the team will look ahead to districts, where Coach McAfee expects the team to be seeded anywhere from third to sixth in the district, with 20 wins.
From district play, the top two teams will go on to quarterfinals in the state tournament, which the team is increasingly optimistic about.
“We beat some good teams at the right time,” Coach McAfee said.
