Boys Swim: let it begin
Mark your calendars: September fourth the boys swim team has their first meet against Timberland. The 18 boys have been preparing themselves for this season by getting used to being back in the water since their time off.
“We are beginning to build an aerobic base. This means longer sets of 50s and 100s on challenging intervals to help attain a higher level of endurance to help carry us through the season,” said Head Coach Andrew Morgan.
Though all the swimmers are important to the program’s success, Mr. Morgan has his eye on one particular swimmer, who is senior Derek Mielke. Mr. Morgan speaks highly of Mielke’s dedication to the sport. He working hard during off season and pushing himself hard to do well on challenging sets and intervals.
“He already has his eyes set on several school and conference records as well as being a top contender in his events at the state championship meet,” said Mr. Morgan.
Mr. Morgan is excited about this season. He has been head coach for the boys swim team here at FHC for 6 years now. To keep up with any updates about swim meets or anything regarding boys swim you can follow Mr. Morgan on twitter at @dudecoach.
