Bouncing Back
The entire gym is filled with nervous energy and everyone stands to their feet as the clock counts down. The buzzer sounds and students rush on the court to celebrate. The Spartans have won by a single point. On Friday, Feb. 7, the varsity boys basketball team took on Troy. The Trojans lead for the majority of the game, but the Spartans were able to battle back from a 15 point deficit. Senior Jonathan Gardner made a layup to win the game in the final minute and the crowd was electric.
Gardner attributes the win not just to scoring points, but says, “the defense really had a big impact on that comeback.” He adds that, “the energy from the crowd gave us a big boost to play harder.”
