A new year and a new attitude

Rachel talks about her new years resolutions.

Hey everyone! I know it’s been a while since I last posted on this blog, but since a new year means a new me, and I am going to be posting every Monday from now until the last day of school.

On the other hand, this winter break was, I hate to admit, a complete disaster. On Christmas day, my depression and anxiety decided to show their devilish little heads and try to ruin my break. Unfortunately, they succeeded. All break I couldn’t relax because I felt like if something could have gone wrong, it was going to go wrong. I also couldn’t stop overthinking things.

Every time I would think one thought, it would trigger another and another and another until there was cyclone of negative thoughts destroying my sanity. Even now I’m still struggling with trying to control my feelings and thoughts. But because of my friends, junior Jessica Ellison, Justin Andres, my online friends and my boyfriend, junior Zachary Harrellson, I am finally starting to take control of my head again.

Since it’s a new year, and I desperately need to make goals for myself, I made New Year’s resolutions for the first time. I decided that I would share my top three goals for the year, so here we go:

3) I’m going to be more social and make more friends. For me, that’s a big step. I don’t really like talking to people I don’t know and I like working on stuff alone. To anyone who is reading this, I would appreciate a wave in the hallway or a simple “Hi.” That would help me a ton with my shyness. You don’t have to though, it’s just a thought.

2) I’m going to start exercising more. I just have one thing to say about this, I absolutly hate exercise. But for my health, my confidence and my self image, I have to do this. I’m actually doing a pretty good job of keeping myself motivated, but I just can’t get myself on the dang treadmill. Fortunately, my mom is helping me with this weight loss stuff.

1) I’m going to keep my depression and anxiety in check. This is probably the single hardest thing I am going to do in 2014. But for the sake of mine, my family’s and my friends’ sanity, I’m going to try.

That’s pretty much it! If you have any questions about me or this blog, or you just want to chat, you can message me on Facebook or follow me on Instagram and Twitter @UltmtNarutoFan1.
