Looking back, moving forward
As the hockey team progresses to the postseason, it reflects on what got them there and considers what will lead to winning the Wickenheiser Cup.
On Jan. 25, the hockey team closed its regular season with a 3-1 win against Howell North. Reflecting on the season, junior Matt Dickens sees a combination of teamwork and talent to be the cause for its overall success.
“[This season, we’ve had] chemistry between players and confidence too, because we have a lot of skill,” Dickens said.
The team now moves on to the postseason, competing for the Wickenheiser Cup, and they believe that maintaining the teamwork and strategy that gave them such a successful regular season will be more than enough to secure it.
“To be honest, I’m expecting to win it all. The teams that are in it we’ve beaten, so the odds of us winning are pretty good if we play our game. The championship will be at Scottrade, and that’ll be awesome,” junior defenseman Andy Moats said.
Along with the confidence, the team members are going into the upcoming games with focus and an understanding of areas where their game can be improved.
“We need to come together as a team, play each period at a time, and be confident,” Dickens said. “If we do that, I think we’re going to go all the way to Scottrade.”
