With a record of 17-5 and holding a fifth place state-ranking following a third place finish in the Gateway Athletic Conference tournament over the weekend, the varsity boys volleyball team has entered its final week of the regular season. The team lost in a semifinal match to the Fort Zumwalt West Jaguars. Junior setter Jordan Alsobrook believes they lost the match because they were not entirely focused on winning.
“We had beaten them [Fort Zumwalt West] earlier in the season, so I guess the game wasn’t as important to us,” said Alsobrook.
The results of the GACs do not matter in the overall picture, however, because it is districts that will decide if the team can reach state for a second straight season. The team will start district play on Saturday.
The team will compete in its last regular season game Thursday night when the boys travel to Westminster Academy.
