Junior Rachael Latzel has been in FHC Publications for two years and this is her first year being the Photo Assignments Editor. She is passionate about capturing action-packed moments with her camera and spending time with her friends. She is involved in various extracurricular activities such as National Honors Society, cross country and track and field.

Directly after completing the race, junior Ryan Halterman hugs Coach Zach McKinley as he reveals to him that he had placed 27th place on Nov. 1. The competition was intense, as only the top 30 had a guaranteed ride to state.

Jumping into each other’s arms, the softball team erupts in smiles and screams as they win the district championship game on Oct 20. They have also just broken a school record with 27 wins in a single season from this game.

As her arm is primed to throw a powerful underhand pitch, Kendyl Morelock lifts both her feet off the ground and looks directly at the target in front of her. Without fail, she gives her opponent a ball they are unable to hit on Oct 20.

Springing up into the air on Oct 20, Amelia Raziq cannot contain her exhilaration as she is one of the first to bat in the first inning and already makes it safely to a base. Her happiness quickly spread to the team, putting them in good spirits for the remainder of the game.

Senior Kiana Kleusner picks up Gretchen Callison as she flies into her arms with pure excitement, they share smiles and laughter in response to their triumph. The team buzzed with joy as their excitement radiated into their crowd as well on Oct. 20.

The athletes cheer and hold up their district plaque which was awarded to them on Oct 20 immediately after the game ended. The crowd hollered at the Spartans in joy while they watched their kids in this precious moment they had all been hoping for.

Isabelle Dunlap looks ahead on Oct 20, preparing for her last chance at batting in the final inning. She took several deep breaths before coming up to the plate, telling the pitcher she was ready for the ball.

Sprinting at full speed on Oct 20, Alex Meyer bounds to first base before the other team is able to tag her out. She just barely makes it to the base safely as the other team tries to throw the ball to the athlete at first base.

Turning around swiftly, senior Alex Meyer looks back to decipher the signs her teammates are signaling towards her. She nodded her head faintly to show others she understood what their plan was on Oct 20.

Keeping her eye keen on the ball on Oct 20, Isabelle Dunlap catches it with precision as it passes the batter in front of her. The umpire stood closely behind her to determine whether the pitch counted as a ball or a strike.

Winding up for the pitch coming straight at her, junior Gretchen Callison picks up her front leg to give more power behind her swing. The opposing team’s coaches watch their pitcher and outfield intently on Oct 20, observing if their next moves are the right decisions made by the players.

Junior Taylei Sesson stands on second base and applauds the success of her team as they advance bases. On Oct 20 the Spartans had just switched to batting and their bases were already full with athletes, giving them chances to score more points.

Directly after bunting the pitch that was thrown at her, senior Kendyl Morelock drops her bat and drives towards her next destination— first base on Oct 20. Often, the player who is up next to bat grabs the thrown bat from the off ground and brings it back to the dugout.

Amelia Raziq attempts to remove her helmet without ruining her hairstyle, she laughs with her fellow teammates after getting another person on base on Oct 20. Her coach, Tony Sargent, gave her a fist bump as he congratulated her on her recent hit.

Talking with her coach leisurely on Oct 20, senior Amelia Raziq awaits her turn to warm up for batting. The two joked around in a lighthearted manner so as to not make the air tense.

Continuing the game on a promising note, junior Isabelle Dunlap is able to get to first base since the opposing team couldn’t catch her hit in time. She celebrated as she looked towards her teammates, who all hype her up as she advanced towards second base on Oct 20.

Sophomore Lily Limpert leans into a turn during a cross country race. During the spring season, Limpert splits her time between track and field and club soccer.
