While many students spent their weekend decompressing after a stressful week of school, the band had other plans. The Spartan Regiment participated in a competition against Lafayette High School on Saturday Sept. 4.
“We did well this weekend,” said Band Director Mr. Nathan Griffin. “The Spartan Regiment had two of its best performances of the year on Saturday.”
The Spartan Regiment made finals of the competition, meaning that it was one of the top ten bands that performed. It first performed for the preliminaries that night and was then given the privilege to play again after the win.
“There are preliminaries and finals at a lot of these competitions, and if you make finals, you play again that night,” said Griffin.
This small, but important, victory added another trophy to band’s ever-growing trophy case and a bit more pride to both The Spartan Regiment and Griffin.
“I’m always happy with our performances, and Saturday was no exception,” said Griffin.
