Many students take Human Anatomy to further their education in medical studies. One way they become more involved with body systems is by dissecting a cat. On May 7 students began their dissection, the cat shows similar anatomy and proportion to the human body. This dissection gives students a better idea of what it might be like to dissect or operate on a real human being. Human anatomy teacher Patrick Reed explains more on the importance of the dissection for the future professional application of the students.
“If these are people that are going to be really getting hands-on practice down the road with actual human cadavers, we need to have as much real world practice as possible,“ Reed said.
Human Anatomy took their final exam over the cat dissection on May 14 to wrap up the semester.
