The spotlight illuminates the stage as seniors begin to take their seats during the senior awards ceremony in the auditorium on May 7. This event was created to reward hardworking seniors with department scholarships from the school and local scholarships from the community. Some scholarships given to students were the NAHS scholarship, Alex Carlos, and even a Coca-Cola scholarship, which is the first year a student from Central has received it. Attending this event, senior Braden Harton received a department award from the child development teacher, Mrs. Kathryn McGuire. Harton received the award through his mentoring of young children at the elementary school. During this event seniors wore their cords, stoles, and medals they have received as a result of their determination throughout high school.
“I think it’s important because, I know it’s not just me but throughout these 4 years a lot of us have worked really, really hard for different scholarships, the stoles, or medals that we have,” Harton said. “It’s really nice to have a night to be able to show those off and be recognized for our hard work.”
Seniors will be walking the stage at the Family Arena on June 6 from 8:30-10:30 AM.
