The great glass windows surrounding the pool in the Rec-plex were dark as the sun had set long before when the match against Francis Howell North began. On Dec. 12, Francis Howell Central girls swim and dive took a loss of 99-87 against Francis Howell North, marking the beginning of their competition season. Despite both teams being exhausted by the end of the match, everyone gave it their all in a close battle for the win.

“I feel like everyone worked really hard that night,” junior Jane Eilers said. “I was pretty tired, but with everyone’s energy I was able to keep my own up. We…make sure to support each other.”

Girls swim and dive compete again at the Rec-plex against Duchense on Jan. 3. After that, they have four other competitions against various schools in January. Each of these will be at the Rec-plex.
