Wrestlers take down Fort Zummwalt West

Although the wrestling team has been winning its duals, the amount of injured wrestlers has increased since the beginning of the season.

Senior Justin Dickey has a severed finger and is unable to wrestle. Senior Adam Greene has a concussion and is unable to wrestle. Senior Terrel Wilbourn just recovered from a torn ACL, and his first event back was against Fort Zummwalt West on Wednesday.

“All our wrestlers are good. Eight of us placed nationally,” said Dickey.

One of those wrestlers was senior Andy King, who pinned his opponent within the first 30 seconds of the match. Although King did well, the wrestlers work more toward the good of the team, according to senior Wilbourn.

“It’s all about the team; if you think it’s all about you, [Coach] Cross doesn’t want you around,” said Wilbourn.

Their next meet is at 6 p.m. on Jan. 19 against St. Charles West High School.
