After the loss to Chaminade, the Central Spartans football team changed its focus to the next task: the homecoming game against Wentzville Holt. Looking for redemption from last year’s loss in the homecoming game, the Spartans took the field led by their sophomore quarterback Chip Miller, who has the sixth most passing yards in the St. Louis area among high school quarterbacks. Their hopes slowly dwindled, and they found themselves losing, in a very close game, 17-14.
Though the loss was not easy to deal with, according to senior defensive back Zack Degrande, the season isn’t over.
“It sucks that we lost the homecoming game, but we played pretty well, and we are seeing improvements every game we play, so we need to keep building on the positives,” said Degrande.
Their next test will be a road game against the undefeated Wildcats of Hazlewood West this Friday.
