As seniors come towards the end of their high school experience, they’re recognized for their achievements and athletics through senior night. While sharing the attention with the seniors, the boys basketball team competed against Francis Howell on Feb. 20. Before the beginning of the game, seniors were announced and escorted by their families and close friends. The sports where the seniors were recognized was boys basketball, girls basketball, cheer, and the sensations. Following the seniors’ recognition, the spotlight shifted attention to the rivalry game. Junior Jamarious Britt is a part of the basketball team and represented the school during the game. Britt has been taking part in basketball since he was only 7 years old and believes that this season is especially good, considering the record and that during each game the team continues to improve. This game was predominantly an important event to Britt, since the Spartans were facing a rival school. The Spartans were victorious, winning 67-45. Which ultimately ended with the student section running down to congratulate the players. Britt shared his outlook on the students who rushed the court.
“When the student section came running down, it felt great,” Britt said. “It showed how much of a community we are, and I loved that everybody was there to support the senior night.”
The boys basketball team will be moving on to the class 6 district tournament on Mar. 7.
