Every year, to kick off the baseball season, the boys’ varsity team plays in the Troy Classic. This year, it started on March 19 and went until March 24; they played a total of five games, coming to a closing record of 3-2. In their first game, they took on Eureka and lost 3-1, which sent them into the losers’ bracket. They ended up winning the next two games, which led them to play for third on Tuesday, March 24, but unfortunately lost to Seckman 2-1. Senior Drew Wyss thinks that this season will be a good one and is looking forward to working hard to prepare for his past postseason.
“I’m very excited with it being senior season,” Wyss said, “I think that the good competition we are playing now will help us when it comes to the postseason.“
The boys’ next tournament will start on March 31 and go until April 4. They will play in the Midwest Classic, which will be held at home.
