Band spring concerts reach full bloom

Spring concerts, yearly events which are prepped for all school year, are taking place this week on Tuesday, May 10 and Wednesday, May 11. The concert band, the symphonic band and the wind ensemble will be playing on Tuesday, with a guest playing alongside the symphonic band. The guest performer is going to be Mr. Mike Sloan, one of the district administrators.

Two other performers scheduled to be featured are seniors Luke Eckhoff and Logan Miller, two students who attended the all-state competitions. Both students will be playing with their own section, the wind ensemble.

The Wednesday spring concert will contain the jazz band, jazz combo and jazz ensemble. This concert will also feature a special guest, Assistant Principle Ms. Marletha Davis, who will be singing with the jazz ensemble.

Both concerts will be taking place at 7 p.m. and will serve not only as a place to enjoy the music of fellow schoolmates, but also as a place of charity. Throughout the week and during the spring concerts, the band will be accepting food donations for St. Joachim and Ann Care Service. Both organizations commonly help provide food and other supplies to those in need.

“Both nights should be a wonderful experience. We want to make an impact on our community through our concerts,” said Band Director Nathan Griffin.
