StuCo puts hard work into homecoming set up

Student Council members have hit the ground running in planning out this year’s first event of homecoming. In its meetings, StuCo has decided to redo a past theme, design a float for the parade, and set up spirit week.

“Our theme is Light up the Night; it’s going to have neon and black lights. We did the theme four or five years ago, and it was such a big hit we decided to do it again,” junior Sara Giocolo said.

Homecoming court nominees are nominated by teachers then voted on by students at lunch, instead of having students who put in their choices.

“We’ve tried to have students do the nominating, but it didn’t work out because some were putting in mean comments and being rude,” Giocolo said.

In addition to getting ready for Homecoming, StuCo is working on increasing school spirit and student participation in other events.

“We want to up the students’ school spirit by advertising events and spreading the word to get the students to come to them,” junior Hannah Johnson said.
