Quiz bowl hosts match
On Tuesday, Nov. 10th, the Francis Howell Central scholar quiz bowl team hosted a match at the school. The team had matches against Fort Zumwalt North and Francis Howell North. In both matches, they were 2 and 0.
The varsity team is now 4-0. Of the 12 students on the team, around five or six compete on the varsity level. The team switches the players for each match; no one is set on varsity or junior varsity. They may move up or down.
The team is currently in the Tournament of Two Saints. The tournament is between Saint Charles and Saint Louis school districts.
“I’m feeeling pretty good about it. We’ve been winning a lot, so that’s good,” said junior Patrick Coffey.
Even with the success, and being a school sport, the team is still in need of members and funding.
“We need new buzzers, badly. The buzzing sound is dying,” said Coffey.
Even with the problems of funding and membership, the team looks to having a successful future and progressing further in the sport.
