Following a 55-30 win against Fort Zumwalt North on Jan. 5, the girls varsity basketball team continued its winning ways on Tuesday, defeating Fort Zumwalt East 54-33. Sophomore Sharese Jones scored 22 points, had three steals and two assists. As the team gears up for the GAC tournament later in the season, junior Stacey Belt said the team is getting better at playing together and are feeling better about their situation upon entering the tournament.
“The more games we play as a team, the better we get,” said Belt, who has been on varsity since her freshman year.
The team has posted a 9-5 record so far. Its next game is tonight at 6:30 p.m. against Mexico High School in Warrenton. The girls look to add on to their current winning streak of two games.
