The boys varsity basketball team met their match in a game vs St. Charles West on Jan. 20, in the large gym. The game concluded with Central winning with a score of 59-57 which would have ended in a tie if it weren’t for a last minute dunk made by junior Jack Brown. Throughout the game, various students were demonstrating school spirit. Some decided to wear school colors or wear togas and many were chanting and cheering on the team. This enthusiasm was felt by more than just the basketball team. Junior Annice Cunningham, member of the Francis Howell Central Sensations can even feel the boost in morale the student section and school spirit bring to the court.
“The student section is always hyped, but on Tuesday, whenever our music wasn’t working, they were hyping us up, and it was really fun. You could just hear some of your friends just cheering, and it was really nice,” said Cunningham.
The boys varsity basketball team has their next game on Feb. 2 against Francis Howell North at home.
