The boys varsity volleyball team faced off against the Rock Bridge Bruins in a two day tournament ending on May 2. The Spartans beat the Bruins in a sweep with a score in the first game of 25-15 and in the second game, 25-18. The Spartans fought hard for the win and kept the spirits high. The team makes sure to have a positive attitude and lift up their teammates no matter what the situation. Junior Danny Maher comments on how the bench and players on the court keep up the encouragement.
“I think most importantly, we’re all friends, and we all like having fun.” Maher said “So having that on the bench really allows us to have a lot of energy and cheer on the guys on the court [making] exciting plays. [It] really gets us encouraged and we like to see each other succeed.”
The volleyball team’s next game is May 12 at De Smet starting at 6pm. It is the first round of districts.
