Share the Gospel, baptize believers, and teach them to live for Jesus. It is just one of many missions Waypoint church has set out to accomplish. “We believe that there’s one mission, it’s God’s mission, but he has people to accomplish that mission, and that’s the great commission,” said pastor Bob Ingal. ‘So Jesus said, go and make disciples and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and teach them all the things I have taught you.’’ Pastor Bob is the lead pastor at Waypoint and has been for nearly 18 years, but before that he sold insurance and then worked as a Walmart manager. Pastor Bob didn’t want to be a preacher but “the Lord called me” Pastor Bob says. “ I wanted to do my own thing, and the Lord just wouldn’t let me go,” Ingal says. “ I believe that the Lord will make you miserable until you are obedient, because if you didn’t, if you had a ton of joy and happiness in what you were doing outside of his will, why would you change?”
With Waypoint evolving and changing over the years they have held lots of different events to bring the community closer. On Oct. 26, 2025 they held an event called Celebration Sunday. So while in a normal service you would typically worship and then listen to a sermon. Opposed to Celebration Sunday when they baptized over 50 people during three services, which means over 50 people on that day gave their life to Jesus, and that’s just one of the amazing events that Waypoint hosts, the family and community surrounding Waypoint is unlike any other.
Waystudents, a program for our students, it’s led by pastor Thomas Shepherd, he has been preaching since 2011, but he didn’t start full time ministry until 2014 which is when he was preaching every single week. While ministry can get lonely and it can oftentimes feel like an island, Thomas likes to make sure that he is staying in God’s word daily, not just for studying sermons or studying for ministry but actively in the work of God, to listen to what God has to say for his life and how he can grow. “Without reading scripture and without praying there is no growing relationship, there’s no growing faith because the only way to grow a relationship is to communicate.” Shepherd says.
