When schools host games, tournaments, and meets throught their season, athletes get a form of appreciation to be able to compete on their own court, field, turf. By being able to play their favorite sport whether it’s their first season playing in their own school representing it or it being their last one in their high school career. Furthermore this past week on April 21 the Francis Howell Central track team hosted the Bob Brueuer open for their last at home meet with finishing their last home meet with record broken and many pr’s that were broken for many athletes. Furthermore The Bob Breuer meet is dedicated to a previous coach for the Francis Howell Central track team who had battled cancer and honoring him every year as they have this meet. During the meet 6 schools competed against the Francis Howell Central track time as it was an open meet allowing more entries and those on JV and Varsity to be able to attend, moreover this gave students a chance to run their last few times for tiger new track athletes or seniors last time jumping throwing or running on their own home track. In particular senior Erin Getgood has been doing track and field for 3 years and expresses how she is grateful for the experiences and opportunities she has got from the program and one crucial thing she will miss coming out of her last season in track and field.
“ I will cherish and be thankful for all the memories I have shared and bonds I have made from track,” Getgood said. “I will always appreciate the coaches for all the hard work and faith they put in me to help me be where I’m at currently and how I’ve grown to build myself in and out the track.”
The Francis Howell Central next meet will be the varsity track meet on Friday May 1st at Francis Howell high school.
