Hosting Ft. Zumwalt West, the Spartan boys volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory (25-17, 23-25, 25-14, 25-21) on April 23. The Spartans started strong in the first set, then adapted and closed out the match with solid net play and communication. The team recovered after losing the second set and worked together and at the net to take control. Junior middle hitter Caleb Dolan said preparation and adjustments were crucial to victory.
“I think we came out really hot and ready in the first set, but after that we got a little ahead of ourselves,” Dolan said. “Once they started putting up a fight, we had to adjust, and our communication and chemistry helped us finish the match.”
The Spartan volleyball team will play on May 1 at the Lafayette Invitational at Marquette High School.
